California Line Fire Videos Show Scale of Blaze as Residents Evacuate

A wildfire in Southern California has resulted in evacuations as thousands of homes, businesses and other buildings in San Bernardino County are under threat.

The Line Fire, which was 3 percent contained at the time of writing, began on September 5 around 6:30 p.m. and has burned more than 20,500 acres. The latest update from Cal Fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said 36,328 structures were threatened by the blaze, including single and multifamily homes, commercial buildings and other minor structures.

The Line Fire is on the north east threshold of the city of San Bernadino, which is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Videos posted on social media show the fire raging on a grass bank near a road and enormous plumes of smoke rising high into the air.
