BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The body of a New Jersey woman found dead in Bessemer earlier this month will finally be heading home. WBRC first reported on the family of Miyell Johnson attempting to raise money to get the 29-year-old woman’s body home.
Johnson’s body will be shipped to her family in New Jersey Tuesday thanks to the help of non-profit CeeMee Buried and donations from people who loved Aanissah Muhammad’s daughter, Miyell Johnson.
Having her daughter laid to rest properly is something her mother is thankful for. But, Muhammad says she still needs closure. Police say Johnson was found on the side of Mountain Road in Bessemer.
The coroner says they do not suspect foul play, but Muhammad isn’t buying that. She says her daughter had no health problems, and she questions how she ended up on the side of the road.
