JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) – A Mississippi couple is facing charges after allegedly installing faulty and used fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens.
The business, Finnegan’s Fire Safety Equipment, was based in Pelahatchie.
Law enforcement arrested Daniel Finnegan and Sherri Finnegan at their home in Smith County on Wednesday, August 21.
Investigators said the fire systems did not work and were not tested before being placed into service.
Authorities said Daniel Finnegan was tagging fire extinguishers without testing them, repainting and replacing parts on used fire extinguishers, and selling them as new.
Authorities said the pair sold many of these systems to daycares and other businesses.
The two face charges of false pretense and violation of the Mississippi Fire Prevention Code.
