Blue Springs takes steps toward adding popular burger chain [Video]

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) – A bit of burger chain battle is brewing in Blue Springs.

City leaders are considering approving a development plan allowing a Smalls Sliders Drive-thru. If approved the restaurant will be located on the southwest corner of Route 7 and SW Mock Ave. Access to Smalls Sliders will be from both the highway and Mock Ave.

The location is the former home of a business called The Cigar Merchant. The business previously closed and the building is scheduled to be demolished.

The biggest question from council members during Monday’s public hearing seemed to be about the restaurant’s design. Smalls Sliders is known for using shipping containers in its buildings, known as “cans.”

Mark Parretta identified himself as the franchisee who hopes to open the Smalls Sliders location. He explained the restaurant’s unique design.
