North Portland Little League hoping to upgrade home field after winning state title [Video]

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A group of 9-to-11-year-old boys made community history this summer by winning the first state title for North Portland Little League in 34 years.

Before the school bell rings in another year, North Portland Little Leaguers are basking in the afterglow from their big summer moment.

“Just being here and playing about as many games as possible. Getting to work to do this is just amazing,” said Wyatt Newhall.

For the first time since 1990, North Portland is home to the 11U state champs.

“I’m supporting North Portland. They’re a very small area compared to other areas that have a lot of better talent and this year just we had the best talent,” Theo Salomone said.
