Springfield Public Schools employees kick off start of new school year [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – More than 3,000 Springfield Public School employees kicked off the start of the school year with a celebration on Tuesday.

The event happened at the Great Southern Bank Arena on the Missouri State University campus. Several speakers, including Superintendent Grenita Lathan and keynote speaker Michael Bonner, addressed the staff.

“I always remind our staff that if you work for Springfield Public Schools, you are a teacher,” said Supt. Lathan. “Whether you are a bus driver, custodian, classroom teacher, administrator, central office leader or employee, you are a teacher. We are responsible for educating students and preparing them for what’s next in their lives.”
