Three major motorways to close for works sending millions on rerouted journeys | UK News [Video]

Drivers have been warned they face disruption on some of the UK’s busiest roads starting from tonight.

Sections of the M25, M4 and M1 will be closed for planned roadworks, including the main bridge connecting England and Wales.

Most of the closures will take place overnight, when the roads are quieter.

Highways England warned motorists driving after 8pm and earlier than 6am that they could be caught up in the diversions, however.

So if your journey takes you along these routes, it might be time to consider staying at home instead or at least leaving extra time for the journey.

The M1 southbound will be closed completely from Junction 31 to Junction 30 from 8pm tonight until 6am on Monday. Surrounding slip roads will also be closed.

Both directions of the M25 London ring road will see disruption, as part of works which have been ongoing.
