BBB: Free food for seniors scams [Video]

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Today, Jo Ann Deal with the Better Business Bureau joined Good Morning ArkLaMiss to discuss free food scams.

Deal says scammers are using Feeding America’s tagline “free food for seniors” in phishing calls and texts to senior citizens. She says if you receive a call about free food for seniors, make sure it is coming from a credited company.

Some of the most common Senior Food Programs around the country are Commodity Supplemental Food Programs, senior food box programs and home food delivery from food banks, senior farmer’s markets, senior mobile pantries and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana serves Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union, and West Carroll Parishes.
