Windom overcoming historic flooding of local waterways [Video]

WINDOM, M.N. (Dakota News Now) – Major flooding continues to impact the Dakota News Now viewing area after excessive rainfall last week.

Officials for the city of Windom said that water levels have reached record highs, cresting at just a little bit over 25 feet and while the water might be receding right now, there’s a lot of work ahead of them.

Rain earlier on Wednesday added salt to an already large wound, bleeding into Windom. The city estimated around ninety percent of residents received water damage this week, varying from just one inch to over five feet inside homes.

Early action from the city prevented even more damage and they believe it held water out of downtown.

The city took steps to protect city infrastructure first so that they could maintain power and keep the water supply safe. They still faced issues.
