Power Outages: What do I need to do? [Video]

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – There were a lot of reported power outages in Central Wisconsin after Monday night’s storm.

WPS is working to restore power in Marathon and the surrounding counties. Here are some tips from them to make sure you’re safe if your power is out. It’s best to do this before an outage, but you can also do it anytime. Make sure to get yourself a flashlight and extra batteries, so you can see inside your home if it’s dark. In case you’re hurt during an outage, make sure you have a first aid kit handy. Keep canned or dried food in your home, and a hand can opener. If you want to be able to contact your family and friends, make sure you have a portable charging pack for your cell phones and mobile devices.
