Runners in this year’s London marathon could earn themselves a significant amount of cash if they manage to finish in the top 12 of the 50,000 participants.

The annual race is scheduled to take place this Sunday, April 21 with a record number of runners expected to participate in the 26.2 mile long race. 

An event for all levels, some will take it more serious than others, with some of world’s the top athletes making their way to England’s capital for a chance to claim first place, along with the hefty cheque that comes with crossing the finish line.

Although many amateurs just want to show up and participate, once they learn how much they could walk away it if they manage to place, they might just be enticed to take it a bit more seriously.
