NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – At Wednesday’s (Jan. 30) Port NOLA board meeting, protesters voiced their disgust over commissioners approving another resolution for the Alabo St. Terminal revitalization project.
The board approved a resolution to allow the Port NOLA president and CEO to submit the revitalization project to the Port Priority Program, which LaDOTD requires for grant applications.
The 30-million-dollar revitalization project was unanimously approved by the board last June. Sunrise Foods will be the tenant and use the warehouse and rail line to import grains from Europe.
Holy Cross neighbors have been outspoken against the terminal project for months since the board approved the project before any community meetings addressing neighbors’ concerns.
