CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Wishes on Wheels returned for a 30th year in Champaign over the weekend.
Nearly 300 people rode their motorcycles and cars to four towns throughout the county to fundraise for a child in need.
Urbana U-Cycle set to resume after week-long interruption
This year’s kid was 9-year-old Donnie Philbeck from Saint Joseph. All money raised will help fulfill Philbeck’s wish for gifts at home — and some fun trips. Miranda Bickers, Philbeck’s mom says it makes treatment easier when her son can take his mind off of his illness.
“We’re hoping to just kind of take him and do things that we normally wouldn’t be able to afford and kind of give him encouragement for living again, you know?” Bickers said.
Also to help fundraising efforts, both a silent and a live auction were held. All items were donated from businesses within the community.
