Western water crisis: Experts gather to discuss solutions to shortages [Video]

ASU’s Water Summit hopes to bring groups together to help solve the West’s water crisis.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Water experts from business, government and academia came together at Arizona State University to save the West. 

“The idea is to share what can be done to conserve water, to recycle water,” Estelle Brachlianoff said. 

Brachlianoff, the CEO of multinational water utility company Veolia, gave the keynote address to the summit on Thursday. 

“There is no magic wand,” Brachlianoff said. “It’s a mix.”

The idea behind the summit was to bring together leaders with expertise in water together. 

In addition to discussing long-term water shortage concerns, they also discussed the growing semiconductor industry in Phoenix, which requires ultra-pure water and innovative management strategies, as well as concerns about “forever chemicals” used in water treatment.
