West Texas businesses, services affected by global tech outage [Video]

TEXAS, USA — As the world is trying to recover from a global technical outage, many services and businesses in West Texas are unable to perform certain tasks requiring technology including accepting payments. 

Here’s what was (or still is) affected:

TRAVEL

In the early morning hours Friday, airlines grounded flights for several hours because of the outage, although most major airlines said flights were resuming by late Friday morning.

The first flight at Abilene Regional Airport was delayed for an hour, City of Abilene Public Information Coordinator, Brian Bethel, said Friday. 

PUBLIC SAFETY

Texas Department of Public Safety Driver License Offices across the state are currently closed because of a technical issue. Customers with appointments should have been notified of the closure. DPS said its IT teams are working diligently on a fix to the issue, however …
