WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Wausau Water Works has found high levels of drinking water in some homes or businesses throughout the city.
Lead dust is the number one cause of lead poisoning in the U.S. which is why city leaders are taking a stand on the issue.
While no action was taken tonight, the committee held a meeting tonight to discuss this issue.
“There’s no level of lead that is safe for the human body,” Marathon County Health Officer Laura Scudiere stated. “It’s especially important for children who are really concerned about developmental mental issues.”
The City of Wausau is discussing the idea of removing lead service lines to help with this issue. They’re also looking into installing corrosion control treatment to help keep people safe from lead poisoning.
