“Boxes of Love” has fed nearly 70,800 people in 14 years.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Monday, at least a hundred volunteers formed a human assembly line at Louisville’s Fourth Street Live! to help local families this holiday season.

Starting at 6 a.m., Metro United Way unions, community groups, elected officials and businesses participated in the 14th annual “Boxes of Love” event.

The movement provides holiday meals to 1,600 underserved families in need across Louisville and southern Indiana, according to event organizers.

Each holiday meal is expected to feed a family of four and includes an entire ham as well as numerous side items.

The “Boxes of Love” holiday meals were assembled by volunteers and delivered by first responders, veterans and union members to veterans, Ft. Knox soldiers and families in need.

In it’s 14-year history, Boxes of Love has helped donate a total of 17,700 boxes, feeding nearly 10,800.
