The 2024 Gray-New Gloucester High School grad was one of Maine’s top runners and won a state championship in basketball, while working to become an Eagle Scout.
Before he graduated this past spring, Libby capped off an impressive career by winning the 1600-meter and 800-meter races at the Class B state championship track-and-field meet.
He also won a state championship in cross-country in the fall of his junior year.
While he became one of the top high school runners in Maine, he used to spend his spring sports season on the diamond and even made the varsity baseball team as a freshman.
“It was a pretty tough decision because I played baseball my whole life, but I knew the track was probably better suited for me,” Libby said.
After success in cross-country, Libby knew he had a bright future in running if he worked for it.
