Utility duct construction near Soldiers Field impacting Townies | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Since Aug.5 Soldiers Field Drive, 7th ST SW, east of 3rd Ave, and 2nd Ave SW, south of 6th street has been closed. There have been detours to get to Soldiers Field. 

The City of Rochester and Rochester Public Utilities are working on a utility duct project that will help install pathways for medium voltage electrical cables to serve continued load growth. 

The construction is expected to go on for six weeks. But it’s affecting one local business Townies. 

“We’ve seen a very large down tick in the number of customers that have been coming in, mainly Soldier Field drive being shut down,” said Owner Cody Livingood.
