WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Kolbe Windows and Doors is investing in clean energy. On Thursday, they were showing off how they are lowering energy costs.
The company received more than $790,000 from the USDA through the Rural Development Grant as part of the Rural Energy for America Program.
The grant is helping Kolbe install a large solar array at their facility. The array is expected to generate over a third of Kolbe’s annual energy use.
“Regardless of where you are or what you’re doing, if you’re in business or you’re an agriculture producer, the government wants to make sure you have some incentive and you don’t have to do the outlying of costs,” USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Lillian Salerno said.
