Michelle Wie said Wednesday that she now has a Twitter page, which she employed in an amusing self-deprecating way in her most recent post: “so i was thinking…whoever is here this week in springfield should make posters that say ‘SIGN YOUR SCORECARD!’ and wave em to me after 18.”

Wie is in Springfield, Ill., for the LPGA State Farm Classic, a tournament from which she was disqualified a year ago for neglecting to sign her scorecard.

At the risk of reading too much into the post, it’s a promising sign that Wie has demonstrated an ability to laugh at herself, suggesting that perhaps she’s starting to relax and enjoy herself.

As for the “The” in “The Michelle Wie,” she added it on the advice of her friend Christina Kim, whose own Twitter page is “The Christina Kim.” That should clear that up.
