SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) – Multiple groups from different walks of life have organized donation drives to help Hurricane Helene victims.
A partnership between several Memphis businesses, including two Harley-Davidson dealerships and Sidecar Cafe, joined forces to host donation drives across the city.
Reggie Miller, the general manager for Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Memphis, says the idea started as a casual conversation on Sunday.
“Just some friends who got together and decided, ‘Hey, we wanna help,’” says Miller. “This literally got thrown together in a limited amount of time.”
They sent several truckloads of donations to affected areas Friday afternoon, with a fleet of bikers alongside.
“We contacted some churches on the ground to get things to them directly. We have Jeep clubs and motorcycle clubs in place at those churches to take those things directly.”
