TROY, Ala. (WTVY) – The Troy-Pike Center for Technology (TPCT) launched a cosmetology program for the first time in several years.
This is all part of its career tech curriculum.
Last year, TPCT received a grant for the program to come back.
Dual enrollment students get all the ins and outs of cosmetology from hair to nail care.
By design, the program allows them to get their cosmetology certification and associate’s degree.
They can go straight into the workforce.
“It is so exciting because over the years we would have 9th-grade tours and see what we have to offer for their 10th-grade year and they would love it but they asked where is the cosmetology program and we would admit we didn’t have one. Fortunately, this year we were able to bring it back after 15 years,“ Maranda Knight, the cosmetology instructor at TPCT, said.
Plans are in the works to start adult night classes for the community.
