CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The founder of the nonprofit “Together We Achieve” was emotional Wednesday when he announced an emergency fundraiser to keep the doors open.
Raymond Siddell started the nonprofit in 2020 to help fill the need following the derecho. It then morphed to help feed those facing food insecurity. Now, Siddell said they needed to raise $50,000 by Saturday to make sure this resource was still available to those in need.
He said they already had an anonymous donor who planned to match up to $25,000, and a grant they received would put them near their goal, but he said he didn’t know what the future looked like.
“I see the need more and more every day,” said Edith Chase of Cedar Rapids. “People who can’t meet their food budget.”
