TALENT, Ore. — A vacant Asante medical facility could soon become Talent’s community resource center.
The City of Talent has a grant request pending with the State’s Business Oregon to buy Asante’s building at 49 Talent Avenue.
Talent City Manager Gary Milliman says the city submitted the community development block grant (CFBG) application last week, before yesterday’s Sept. 30 deadline.
He says the grant request is for $1.5 million to pay $1.35 million for the building and $150,000 for renovation and upgrades costs to make the facility suitable as a community resource center.
Milliman says the building would provide space for local nonprofit and support agencies such as ACCESS, whose nearby facility sustained fire damage. He says while that example is fire related, the facility is not driven by the City’s recovery from the 2020 Almeda Fire which …
