How a Triad organization is encouraging voters to head to the polls [Video]

Organizations across the Triad are working to get voters to head out to the polls. One of them is the High Point Branch of the NAACP.Members with the organization gathered at Cedrow Park in High Point Saturday morning to pick up flyers and hand them out by going door-to-door in the surrounding community. Branch president, Dr. Elma Hairston, says the flyers contain information to help voters make a plan. Our Get Out to Vote campaign is specifically designed to educate all of our community as to the new voter ID laws, as to why it’s so important to vote, making them aware that we do have rides to the polls available, she said. Hairston says providing non-partisan information to voters is important.It’s not about telling people who to vote for, Hairston said. During that time, she says she often hears about polarization from voters. Everything is so polarized, Hairston said.
