California voters will soon decide whether to raise the state’s minimum wage to $18 an hour. If approved, Proposition 32 would first increase the current $16 wage to $17 for the rest of the year, then raise it to $18 starting in January. Michael Reich, chair of UC Berkeley’s Center on Wage and Employment Dynamics, joined us on ‘The Nine’ to discuss the potential impact on businesses and how it could boost the economy.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Avista announced that more Washington residents will qualify for lowering their monthly energy bill starting in October. The new income limits have given a wider range of monthly discounts to include higher incomes which could add 40k more residents to be eligible for the program. Currently the program has just over 50k
