CLAREMORE, Okla. — Students are spending a week of their summer vacation doing repairs and recovery work on homes and property in Claremore affected by the recent tornado through BOUNCE Student Disaster Recovery.

It’s been more than a month since an EF-3 tornado hit Claremore. FEMA declared a disaster in Claremore on June 14.

BOUNCE Student Disaster Recovery is a ministry of Texas Baptists affiliated with more than 5,300 Texas Baptist churches and ministries.

“BOUNCE invites students to assist communities in their efforts to bounce back through long-term disaster recovery and home rehabilitation projects,” the announcement said.

Around 65 students and sponsors from churches around Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico will be serving those affected by the tornado in Claremore this week. Students from Wichita Falls, Stilwell, Lovington, Grapevine, Brownfield and Austin will be working on the homes during their summer vacation.
