STOCKTON, Calif. — A search is underway for the person accused of killing a beloved son, brother, and community member. Six days after the deadly hit-and-run crash in Stockton, there are still few answers as a family prepares to bury their loved one.
Inside the family’s home, there are no holiday decorations, no smiles, and no words that can describe the pain felt by those who knew 30-year-old Osvaldo Fernandez.
“He was a good person, always well-behaved,” said Fernandez’s mother, Maria Soto. “Very hardworking.”
Soto fought tears Saturday as she looked at all she has left of the Edison High graduate: pictures, flowers, and memories.
“He was always like a happy young kid. He was very respectful as a grown person,” said Fernandez’s longtime friend Maritza Soto. “He was (always) working.”
