Starting from the basement: Ballantyne Ridge football embracing adversity ahead of programs first season [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Every football program has to start somewhere.

The Ballantyne Ridge Wolves know exactly where that starting point is entering year one as a program.

“[We’re] starting from the basement,” head coach Chris Redding said. “We talked about it with our team all the time is going from the basement to the penthouse.”

That climb to the penthouse looks even more steep when taking a peek at the roster for this team. According to Redding, the average age of this team is under 15 years old, and the average weight is around 150 pounds.

Not exactly the qualities you’d expect from a 4A varsity football team in North Carolina.

The Wolves are preparing to do lots of growing both on and off the field in 2024. These players and coaches know that there will be more than a fair share of growing pains to come as well.
