An overwhelming majority (96%) of SMEs have experienced an increase in online sales over the past year, new report from payments firm PayPal has revealed.
As per the firm’s ‘Business of Change Report’, which surveyed more than 250 SME businesses, a similar amount (95%) reported feeling optimistic about the growth of their business in the year ahead.
On average, firms that sold internationally, some 50% of respondents, generated €240,605 in revenue over the year. Those not yet selling internationally but planning to do so in the future, around 30% of survey participants, estimated that the move would generate an average of €122,728 per annum
Just over two out of five (41%) of respondents believe that Ireland is ‘strategically positioned’ to seize opportunities in the global market, while 31% of those surveyed say that their survival hinges on international expansion.
