Simpson associate indicted for hiding unregistered machine gun, documents say [Video]

Cotter’s bond was lowered from $1 million to $100,000 on Nov. 7 and he was released from jail one day later. He remains out on bond.

SAN ANTONIO — The business associate of Brad Simpson, James Cotter, was indicted for a weapons charge and a tampering with evidence charge this week, documents show. 

Cotter allegedly helped hide Brad Simpson’s “machine gun” just before Simpson was arrested in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Suzanne, arrest documents say. The documents say authorities searched his home on Oct. 8 and found the gun in the wall. 

The firearm had a string attached to its sight that would allow it to be retrieved “out of the void” in the wall, according to the documents. Authorities linked it with the same gun was seen on video inside the Simpson’s home at some point previously.
