Shooting and car fire in Sydney’s south-west overnight was ‘targeted attack’, police say [Video]

A witness who arrived home moments before a shooting and car fire in Sydney’s south-west overnight says she almost became caught up in the crossfire.

Mary Boyer heard the unmistakable sounds of gunfire and a car exploding before police were called to Haig Avenue in Georges Hall about 1.10am today.

Officers found multiple rounds had been fired into the office of an insurance broker.

“It was banging and exploding and I thought, ‘Oh shit’,” Boyer said.

“If I saw them and saw them putting it alight, they might have shot me too.”

No injuries were reported.

Just minutes after the shots were fired, police were called to a car fire in Kawana Street, Bass Hill.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze but the car was destroyed.
