RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAW) – Rib Mountain is known for its surplus of businesses and seems to always be expanding, but a protest at the municipal center today may be the catapult for the village to reconsider its decision.
The Tax Incremental District, or TID, is an economic development technique to ultimately expand property base. Private developers build a site, property values rise, and then those taxes paid on that site go towards other projects in the area.
The TID looks like a good idea for the village of Rib Mountain, as they could expand their businesses even further. However, to the people who live there, not so much.
