Rep. Jim Himes holds meeting at Oxford town hall about relief options for flood victims [Video]

OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Residents in Oxford dealing with flood damage to their homes and businesses had a chance to ask questions directly to politicians during a town hall meeting Friday.

Oxford holds town meeting to discuss resources for residents after flood

Residents are being urged to gather and submit as much evidence of their damage as possible to a state online portal. The state said that is necessary to get access to additional streams of federal relief funding.

According to Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn) and the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA), the state needs to get damage estimates to prove it needs two types of federal relief, including public and individual assistance. Himes says $4 million could be available for the county, while there is a cap of $42,500 for individual assistance.
