Renters in Portage collect items for hurricane survivors [Video]

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — More Michigan communities are coming together to form supply drives for the survivors of Hurricane Helene.

One of those communities is a Portage apartment complex. Golden Tree Apartments manager Kris DeLoach said she was initially planning to volunteer with her daughters in hurricane-ravaged eastern North Carolina. She said the idea soon turned into a plan to gather as many supplies as she could from businesses and donors to bring on the trip.

She and her daughters have been sorting through donations and packing them for their trip next week, which includes donations from the Tractor Supply Company location in Paw Paw and B and G Discount in Schoolcraft.
