Remains of Korean War soldier to return home to Camden County, Mo. [Video]

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – The remains of an Army Corporal from Camden County who served in the Korean War will return home this month.

According to the U.S. Army Human Resources, the remains of Army Cpl. Gerald “Jerry” N. Wilson will be buried at Parrack Grove Cemetery in Macks Creek on October 15.

Cpl. Wilson was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He went missing in action on July 25, 1950, when he was 19-years-old.

He was participating in the defense of Yongdong, South Korea. Officials were not able to recover his remains at the time.

According to a news release, Wilson was accounted for by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency on August 29, 2019, after his remains were exhumed June 11, 2018, from the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – also known as the Punchbowl – Honolulu, Hawaii, for laboratory …
