STATEWIDE — Caroline King is the Executive Director of the Red Cross Northern New England. She stopped by our Bangor studio Thursday to shed light on how Maine volunteers are pitching in for relief efforts in multiple states related to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which just hit Florida Thursday.
She says their duties are varied but they are serving tens of thousands of victims, helping to feed and house people and handing out cleanup supplies to those who still have homes or businesses to attend to.
“Currently the number of Red Crossers from Northern New England that have deployed is nearly 40 – with more leaving every day, and Red Crossers continue to answer the call to leave their homes, their families and to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of people across the Southeast…”
