TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Local nonprofit Project Never Broken is getting some support from the state for its work with first responders.
It was awarded $13,000 for its Frontline Ventures program.
The program will use the money to help first responders who want to become entrepreneurs. Project Never Broken will teach them how to transfer the skills needed to be a first responder to run a business.
“It’s a really good way, and a mentally healthy way, for them to disconnect from the job and do something,” said Shelly Klingerman, founder of Project Never Broken, “Maybe it’s a passion, maybe it’s something they enjoy. It also gives them that opportunity to bring in some extra income and set themselves up for what they’re going to do next after they retire.”
