KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – President Joe Biden approved the major disaster declaration after a request from Gov. Bill Lee.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency declared a major disaster in Tennessee after days of severe rain and flooding.

This funding is for people in Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties.

“Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster,” FEMA officials said.
