LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new housing project aimed at giving people a second chance was launched Saturday in Louisville.
Jacob’s Ladder Outreach is creating Eden Village of Louisville. The project will be a neighborhood of 35 tiny 398-foot homes located at 35th Street and Parker Avenue in the Portland neighborhood.
The homes will provide a supportive living environment for those who are homeless, including veterans. There will also be a bus stop out front that will take residents into Louisville.
“It is a safe environment,” project manager Jerry Fischer said. “We create a community for them. It makes them feel welcome and it helps remove them from the street and it permanent housing. It is not transitional. There is no six months or a year. They can live the rest of their life inside of our village.”
