Despite a poor performance on Thursday Night Football, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has decided to leave veteran Jacoby Brissett in as the team’s starting quarterback. Rookie signal-caller Drake Maye entered the game late in the fourth quarterback, sparking some thought that he could be named the starter going forward.
But Mayo is staying with the veteran, at least for now.
“Jacoby is our quarterback until I say he’s not the quarterback,” the Patriots head coach said. I thought last night he showed a lot of toughness, a lot of grit.”
However, this news is a little concerning for Brissett, especially with Maye entering the game last night. If he can’t pick his play up, he will likely be benched for the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
