PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Parkersburg City Council met and the community had a few items on their radar.
During the public forum, multiple residents spoke on behalf of the Parkersburg City Workers, expressing the need for a raise for them.
The sanitation department engaged in a forum expressing the need to start from the bottom up. Most were not fully against a raise for the mayor but instead wanted to start with the city workers first.
Many shared that they bring home less than $30,000 a year and work extra jobs, simply expressing how tough it is to live off the salary they are currently on.
The $27,883 salary adjustment for the mayor and council failed.
The $110,000 compensation annual salary for the mayor also failed.
