Pampered pooches set to take to the skies with K9 Jets [Video]

Irish aviation has just seen a new departure in animal travel as K9 Jets, a US company that transports wealthy people’s dogs, has completed its first flight from Dublin to New York.

For the price of a first-class single ticket — about €9,000 — pets can travel in style seated next totheir owner.

Ireland is home to an estimated half a million dogs and 355,000 cats according to a Euromonitor International Report conducted in 2022. Irish people spend almost €240m per year looking aftertheir pets.

This level of spending has paved the way for businesses to innovate in a very lucrative market space.

K9 Jets’ inaugural flight, a Gulfstream IVSP, took off from Dublin Airport this month. It is the brainchild of US-based husband and wife Adam and Kirsty Golder.
