NEWTON, Miss. (WTOK) -On Saturday, the city of Newton hosted its first annual Trees of Christmas from 5 to 7 p.m. at the historic McElroy Hoye house.
Members from around the Newton area gathered for an open house. Different businesses around the city of Newton decorated the trees with festive ornaments and other decorations, and attendees even enjoyed refreshments.
Ashley Massey with the Newton Chamber of Commerce talks more about their first annual Trees of Christmas event.
“This is the very first year that we’re doing the tour of the trees, and this is a historic home here in Newton, so it’s called the historic McElroy Hoye house. We have 23 Christmas exhibits, so they’re not all Christmas trees. Some of them are mantels, and some of them are just displays. Of course, we’ve decorated the front porch.
