NY weather update: Coastal flood advisory issued for Westchester County until 1 a.m. Monday [Video]

An updated coastal flood advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Sunday at 3:07 a.m. valid from 10 p.m. until Monday 1 a.m. for Westchester County.

“Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline,” describes the weather service. “Additional minor coastal flooding is possible with high tide Monday evening.”

“Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low-lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding,” adds the weather service. “If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.”
