NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk City council members voted unanimously to allow a new non-profit to come to the Mermaid City that will be dedicated to helping those looking for affordable housing.
The resolution specifically came from the city’s Redevelopment and Housing Authority. The goal is to create a non-profit that will provide educational, employment and recreational opportunities.
It will also allow residents to apply for grants that would otherwise be unavailable due to its status as a non-profit.
“I had to come and say great job, thank you, and surely we offer our support to whatever is needed and required,” said one supporter.
