Non-profit supporting service members surprised with grant funding through 13News Now [Video]

Paws for Purple Hearts received the grant money through the TEGNA Foundation, which is affiliated with 13News Now’s parent company.

NORFOLK, Va. — One of our favorite holiday traditions here at 13News Now is surprising non-profits with grant funding through the TEGNA Foundation. TEGNA is 13News Now’s parent company. 

This week, Paws for Purple Hearts stopped by 13News Now for an interview highlighting the organization, but also so their representatives could receive a special surprise. 

“We’re an organization that trains service dogs for our warriors, that’s veterans as well as active duty service members,” Paws for Purple Hearts Southeast Site Manager Genevieve Timpone said. She added that there are countless stories to tell of service dogs impacting veterans and active duty service members for the better.
