Non-profit ambulance in Hudson launches fundraiser for vital equipment [Video]

HUDSON, Maine (WABI) – It’s no question that many EMS services in Maine have run into issues with staffing and funding.

Those are the moments they call on their community members for support.

G&H Ambulance out of Hudson has seen about a 400-call increase over the last four years, according to their chief, Jason Frantz.

G&H is a 501-C non-profit service.

They travel both across Maine and into neighboring states for services.

However, the cost to keep the operation going adds up quickly.

“None of it’s cheap,” said Frantz. “We tried for a couple of grants, we didn’t qualify so we decided to reactivate the Go-Fund-Me.”

The fundraiser is activated each year to raise funds for vital, yet costly, equipment.

G&H gets $10,000 a year from the town of Hudson.

The rest comes from private pay, insurance reimbursement and occasional small donations.
