According to Mathis, the flooding was not too bad.

“Thankfully the flood levels came just shy of causing us a problem last night,” he told WVLT News. “We don’t have any homes reported to be affected.”

Duke Energy, the owner of the Waterville Dam (also known as the Walters Hydro Station) said flooding had impacted a temporary barrier set up in the aftermath of Helene, which caused the flooding.

Mathis said crews began work early Monday morning to repair roads in Cocke County. He highlighted Trail Hollow Road as one that was damaged badly.
